Used RV financing

Financing a used RV, explained before you call anyone.

Already have a lender? We work with yours to close fast. Need one? We will help you explore RV financing options. No pressure, no obligation, and it will not slow down your search. Below is how the numbers on this site are built, so the payment beside a price means something.

How it works here

Every unit on the site shows an estimated monthly payment. Open the unit and you can change the down payment, the term, and the credit tier to see what moves it. Those estimates come from one set of rules, described on this page, based on what mainstream RV lenders were writing for used towables when we last reviewed the market.

When you are ready, you finance the RV with a lender, not with us. Bring a pre-approval from your bank or credit union, or ask and we will point you toward lenders that write on used travel trailers and 5th wheels. We handle the paperwork and the title so the lender gets what it needs.

What lenders look at

  • Down payment. Plan on 10 to 30 percent. Zero down is rare on a used RV, and a bigger down payment can open a longer term.
  • Amount financed. Smaller loans get shorter terms. Under $10,000, most RV lenders will not write the loan at all.
  • Age of the RV. Lenders look at the model year as hard as they look at your file. Past about 15 model years, specialty RV loans stop.
  • Your credit. It moves the rate a point or two either way. It matters less than the age of the unit and the size of the loan.

Terms and rates behind the estimates

Good-credit APR by model-year age, and the longest term each age allows. Excellent credit takes about 1.0 points off; fair credit adds about 1.5. The range across the table runs 6.99 to 13.49 percent.

6 to 9 years8.99%15 years
10 to 12 years10.49%12 years
13 to 15 years11.99%10 years
Over 15 yearsNo specialty RV loan. Cash, personal loan, or your credit union.

Longest term by amount financed, whichever cap is tighter wins:

  • $10,000 to $24,999up to 10 years
  • $25,000 to $49,999up to 15 years
  • $50,000 and upup to 20 years

These are the assumptions behind the estimates on this site, not an offer. Your lender sets your rate and term. BuyAnyRV is not a lender and does not make credit decisions.

What that looks like on a real price

20 percent down, good credit, the longest term the rules allow. The unit pages let you change all three.

Credit tiers, in plain terms

The estimator uses 3 tiers: excellent, good, fair. They are there so you can see how much your file moves the payment, which on a used towable is usually less than the age of the unit does. Your lender will quote the real number.

Financing questions

Can I use my own bank or credit union?

Yes, and it is often the best rate you will find. Bring the approval and we work with your lender to close. If you do not have one, tell us and we will point you toward RV lenders that write loans on used towables. Either way there is no pressure and it does not slow your search down.

How long can I finance a used RV?

Terms usually run 5 years to 20 years. The amount financed sets the ceiling: smaller loans get shorter terms, and lenders cap the term again on older units. A longer term lowers the payment and raises the total interest, so pick the shortest one that fits the budget.

Why does a unit show a price but no monthly payment?

Specialty RV lenders generally will not write on units older than about 15 model years, or on loans under $10,000. Rather than show a payment nobody could get, those units show the price alone. Cash, a personal loan, or a credit union that knows you are the realistic routes.

Do the estimated payments include tax, title, and fees?

No. The estimate on each unit is built on the asking price only. Sales tax, title, and registration are added at closing and depend on where you register the RV. Out-of-state buyers usually handle tax and registration with their home state.

Should I get pre-approved before I visit?

Yes. Pre-approval takes a day or two, tells you exactly what you can spend, and turns the buying part into a signature. It also means a unit you like can be held with confidence instead of hoping it is still here next week.

Is BuyAnyRV a lender?

No. We do not make credit decisions or set rates. The lender does. The numbers on this site are estimates built from what mainstream RV lenders were writing at the time we last reviewed them, and they exist so you can budget before you call anyone.
