Should I consign my RV, take a cash offer, or sell it myself?
Consign it if you can wait for a buyer and want more than a cash number. Take a cash offer if you need it gone. Sell it yourself if you want every dollar of the sale price and you are willing to do all the work.
At BuyAnyRV in Princeton, TX, consignment is free to list, your RV parks on our lot at no charge while it sells, and our fee is 10% at closing with a $749 minimum. A cash offer is a straight number based on what units like yours have actually sold for. We give you both numbers side by side, and we will say plainly which one we would take if it were ours.
Side by side
Three ways to sell an RV, compared
Trading it in is a fourth way. It is one transaction and pays the least.
Consign it with us
Sells at retail
- What you get
- The sale price, minus our 10% commission at closing ($749 minimum). Nothing up front, and you keep 90% of the sale price.
- What you do
- Send the details, tow it to the lot once, and agree on the price and the plan in writing. Then come back once, for your check.
- How long it sits with you
- Until you bring it over. After that it parks on our lot, free, for as long as it is listed. How long it takes to sell depends on price and condition.
- Title and paperwork
- We do. The title work happens here at closing, and any loan is paid off out of the sale.
Take our cash offer
No waiting on a buyer
- What you get
- A straight cash number, based on what units like yours have actually sold for. It is a wholesale number, so it pays less than a retail sale.
- What you do
- Send the year, make, model, condition and a few photos. Bring it once: if it matches the photos, you leave with a check.
- How long it sits with you
- Until the one trip to close. You drive home empty.
- Title and paperwork
- We do the title work here and pay off any loan at closing.
Sell it yourself
Pays the most, costs the most time
- What you get
- The whole sale price. No commission.
- What you do
- All of it: the photos, the listing, your phone number on the internet, every call, strangers in your driveway, and the haggling.
- How long it sits with you
- Until a buyer pays you. Meanwhile it stays in your driveway or in a storage space you keep paying for.
- Title and paperwork
- You do. The title and the money are yours to handle, on your own.
When each one makes sense
Consignment sits between a cash offer and a private sale, which is where most people land. It suits a patient seller who would rather not have buyers at the house. The RV sells at retail, somebody else takes the calls and runs the showings, and the commission comes out at closing, only if it sells.
A cash offer is close to a trade number without needing to buy anything. It is the right answer when you need it gone, the storage bill is due, or the HOA letter has already arrived.
Selling it yourself pays the most when it works, and it is the most work. Private sales are as-is, so expect buyers who want an inspection, and plan on handling the title and the money yourself.
What sets the number, on any path
Condition sets the range more than the model year does. A clean unit with service records, no soft spots and good tires sits at the top of its band. Water damage moves it to the bottom of the band or out of it. Bunkhouse and rear-living floorplans bring more than the age alone says, because that is what buyers ask for by name. More on what your RV is worth.
What we take
Travel trailers, 5th wheels and park models, in good, fair or as-is condition, with a clean title. We do not take motorhomes (Class A, B or C) or units with a salvage or rebuilt title. Paying for storage while you decide? A consigned RV parks here free while it sells.
Questions sellers ask first
Which nets more, consignment or a cash offer?
Consignment, usually. A cash offer is a wholesale number: we take on the reconditioning, the marketing and the risk, so it pays less than a retail sale. Consignment sells your RV at retail on our lot with our commission out at closing, so it nets more, but you wait for a buyer. We tell you both numbers and you pick.
What does it cost to consign my RV with BuyAnyRV?
Nothing up front. Listing is free, and parking it on our lot while it is listed is free. Our fee is a 10 percent commission, taken out at closing, with a $749 minimum. The terms are in writing before we list.
Is selling it myself really worth more?
It pays the most and costs you the most time. A private sale means your phone number on the internet, strangers in your driveway, and handling the title and the money on your own. Consignment puts the unit in front of real buyer traffic while somebody else takes the calls, runs the showings, and does the paperwork.
Do I have to bring it in to get a number?
No. Call or text with the year, make, model and condition, or send a few photos, and we will give you a real market number over the phone. You bring it once: to list it, or to close on a cash offer.
What if there is still a loan on it?
That is normal, on either path. We confirm the payoff with your lender, it comes out of the sale at closing, and you get the rest. Bring the lender name and your account number.
How long will it take to sell on consignment?
It depends on price and condition more than anything. Priced on hope, it can sit. Two things move a unit: honest photos and a price that matches what similar ones actually sold for. If you need it gone now, that is what the cash offer is for.
Can I change my mind after it is listed?
Yes. The consignment agreement spells out how, in plain language, before we list. You are never locked in for years.
Start with the number
Send the year, make, model and a few photos. We pull what units like yours actually sold for and give you the cash number and the consignment estimate together. It is free, and you decide what to do with it.
